Perini Ranch Perini Ranch is a small family farm that was established by Italian immigrants and has been maintained as a working farm and rustic retreat for three generations. The ranch is located in the south-west corner of Lake County and is surrounded by the vineyards of the Red Hills appellation. The 200 acre farm is set in a black oak and ponderosa pine forest and is shared with coastal blacktail deer, California quail and a variety of birds and other small wildlife. Three small ponds on the property host water fowl, a resident population of bass and a variety of panfish. Original settlers of the property were Pomo Indians and many of their artifacts can still be found on the ranch today. There are also several sites on the ranch that contain "Lake County Diamonds", a hard form of clear quartz created by the once active volcano at Mount Konocti which can be seen from the ranch. There are several hiking trails on the ranch, and more serious hiking is available at the nearby Boggs Mountain State Forest and Anderson Marsh State Park. |
